- Urban planning concept, compatibility with the urban fabric of the district and landscape design principles
Girteka campus is planned in the industrial area in the southern part of Vilnius, near Vilnius international airport. The plot in valid City plan is marked as infrastructural, and the current land use purpose is commercial. The total area of the territory is 17 hectares. The area is bordered by A15 motorway and Sodybų Street, close to busy roads leading to Southern Lithuania and Belarus. There are currently no buildings in the territory, and it is partially covered with shrubs. Along the A15 motorway, an array of trees extends throughout the perimeter.
The urban design concept of the project is to create a modern multifunctional complex of exceptional quality - office, shopping and transportation centre, reflecting the mission of the company “WE CARE”: by the use of modern technologies and conceptual architectural solutions a comfortable working environment for the employees of the Girteka group is created, which is consistent with the needs of clients, hauliers and shareholders, giving new impetus for the further growth of the company and the development of the whole urban area.
The project provides for density of the construction of the plot, the height of the buildings is in line with the conditions defined in the valid City plan (see more details in section 7), the array of trees is preserved and expanded.
- Main architectural idea and massing of the complex
The main architectural idea of the complex is that of a building-“carrier". According to the conditions of the competition, there are five different scenarios parks-public spaces integrated between office buildings into an integral massing, rationally exploiting available space. The main idea of the architectural design both reflects the urban context, expresses the main functional concept of the company and its values: reliability, growth, safety, innovations, sustainability, and community.
